Mobile Marketing

With the continuous evolution of technology, internet based marketing is quickly moving from stationary computers to mobile devices, making mobile marketing a crucial part of your digital marketing strategy.  Mobile marketing refers to marketing on or with a mobile device, most commonly cell phones.  There are many different popular methods of mobile marketing.  These include:

  • SMS Marketing: SMS Marketing is sometimes referred to as text message marketing.  For the most part, this is an opt-in service, allowing customers to receive updates to their phone via text message about new offers, services, or other opportunities your company wants to advertise.
  • MMS Marketing: Like SMS Marketing, MMS marketing refers to Multimedia Message Service marketing, in which messages include a combination of images, text, audio, or video sent to customers.
  • Push Notifications: Introduced in 2007 with Apple’s iPhone, push notifications allow applications on a phone to send you information even when the app isn’t in use.  For example, a sports app might alert you that a game featuring your favorite team is playing, or a savings app might alert you of its latest coupons.
  • QR Codes: QR codes, or quick response codes, serve as a visual hyper-link to a page: just scan the code into your phone and quickly reach a mobile page with an offer or some information on the product or service being advertised.
  • Location-Based Services: these marketing services detect the area the customer is in (their geolocation) and send marketing messages for businesses in that area to the phone.
  • GPS Messaging: Similar to location-based service, GPS marketing involves location-specific messages that are sent to a customer when they are within range.

These are just a few ways mobile marketing can be implemented for your business.  If you are interested in starting a mobile marketing strategy, or are wondering which mobile marketing method is right for your business, do not hesitate to contact SMT for a free consultation!
