ClickFunnels vs LeadPages – Which Landing Page Tool to Use for Your Business

March 28, 2017

Building beautiful, functional and engaging landing pages is one of the most important parts of a successful online marketing campaign. Any savvy marketer knows that once you've done all that hard work to get visitors to your website, the next big step is to convert them into leads for your business. You can’t do that without an optimized landing page.

So what exactly is a landing page?

A landing page is a web page that allows you to capture a visitor's information through a lead-capture form.

There are a few different purposes for landing pages. DigitalMarketer describes three main types:

  • Squeeze Page - Choose this landing page type to generate leads.

  • Long Form Sales Letter - Choose this landing page type to sell products and services with the written word.

  • Video Sales Letter - Choose this landing page type to sell products and services with video.

But no matter which landing page type is right for your campaign; you’re going to need a way to create your landing page. MarketingSherpa's Landing Page Handbook cites that the number one reason businesses don't use landing pages is because their marketing department doesn't know how to set them up or they are too overloaded.”

That’s where products such as ClickFunnels and LeadPages come in.

What is LeadPages?

LeadPages is a landing page builder that allows you to collect email subscribers easily. This is actually the primary function of LeadPages.

If you’re looking for high-converting templates for lead magnets, landing pages, sales pages, webinars, and more – with the intention of building your email list, LeadPages is a great option for you.

What is ClickFunnels?

ClickFunnels is harder to sum up because it really does so much. With ClickFunnels, you’re able to create not just landing pages but marketing funnels that will boost your conversions. A funnel created through this product might look similar to this:

The focus of ClickFunnels is to help you create an entire high-converting sales funnel that makes money.

What is the Difference?

Both of these products can help you easily create beautiful landing pages, but if you’re thinking about boosting backend sales instead of just building a list, you might want to take a harder look at ClickFunnels.

The way you use ClickFunnels is different to LeadPages. Instead of creating just a landing page, like you do with LeadPages, you create a funnel. And it’s easier than it sounds. For example a simple funnel could be a lead capture page and a thank you page. With LeadPages you would have to create two separate pages. With ClickFunnels you create a funnel and then both pages sit inside of that one funnel. It helps keep your campaigns organized and helps you visualize the steps your customer would go through.

Conclusion

Here at Sales & Marketing Technologies, we use ClickFunnels for different our campaigns and projects.

If you only need a Squeeze Page, you might be fine with just using LeadPages, but if you’re building out a funnel that generates leads, builds trust, and converts more customers, ClickFunnels might work better for you.
