Growing Your Email List with Twitter

Email marketing, when done correctly, can be beneficial to your business.  Whether it is a monthly newsletter that you send out on a regular basis, or the occasional coupon, unless you have many people opting in to the email list, it will not be very beneficial. One way you can grow your email list is by turning to social media. 

Some easy ways you can use Twitter to help grow you email marketing lists include:

• Linking Your Twitter Bio to an Opt-In Page 
  
  Most Twitter users realize they should include their website in their Twitter bio, but smart marketers realize that they can actually also include a link to a landing page with a direct call to action - such as a form where users can opt-in to including their email address in a mailing list. 
  
  This allows you to provide the authority of your domain, as users see they are clicking directly to a sign-up on your webpage.  An added bonus is that the link in your profile shows up all around Twitter and on related sites or searches.

• Use Twitter to Offer Free Bonuses
  
  There are many different options when it comes to getting people to re-tweet some of your content, but one you may not be familiar with is Pay with a Tweet. 
  
  This tool allows you to give away something for free at the “price” of a Tweet - for example, someone may receive some of your content if they sign-up for your mailing list - but they can receive full access (to a white paper, for example) if they also “pay with a Tweet”, giving you a whole new audience who is seeing your content.

• Include a “Click to Tweet” Option
  
  Make your newsletter signup page worthy of tweeting about, and include an option for Twitter users to include that they have signed up for the newsletter.  Besides on the Thank You page, you can also include a link in the initial emails you are sending out so that people can Tweet that they are now receiving the messages.
