Writing Engaging Web Content

May 14, 2013

One of the most important parts of getting customers to your website is providing relevant and engaging web content.  This might seem like a daunting task to some, but writing web content is fairly easy, as long as you remember some simple points.

It is important to understand your audience before you start writing web content.  Your audience is two-fold: you are writing for both your “real” audience and for search engines.  This means that you need to not only include key words to help with your SEO so that you rank for on Google, but also make sure that it is a quick and informative read for your real audience.

How do you make it a compelling read for your audience?

Start by keeping it short.  Short words, sentences and paragraphs make it easy to read, and allow the readers to digest the information quickly.  Using headings, subheadings, and lists are also great ways to break up the content, and are also useful for highlighting the most important points in your content.

Graphics are also important to keeping content fresh - these graphics don’t necessarily have to be pictures, either, but can also include graphs, tables, block quotes or infographics your readers might find interesting.

If you need help with your content writing, whether someone to write the content for you or even edit your current content and help you in the right direction, Sales & Marketing Technologies is here to help. Contact us today.
